The push for flexibility at work

The push for flexibility at work

How hybrid models affect engagement

As part of an effort to learn more about workplace arrangements and how they might have an impact on employee acquisition, retention, and engagement, Deloitte and Workplace Intelligence surveyed 700 US mid- to executive-level finance professionals from the largest US financial institutions to see what they had to say. Here are a few highlights:
  • 70% of women whose employers offered a high degree of flexibility planned to stay with their current employers for three or more years, vs. 15% of women whose employers offered no flexibility.
  • Men and women are equally likely to seek flexible work arrangements.
  • 66% of respondents who work remotely part-time said they’d leave if they had to return to the office five days a week.
  • 92% of respondents reported that their own engagement levels are high, but most of those surveyed were concerned that fully remote work models will eventually erode engagement levels and serve as a disadvantage in their careers.

In this inaugural report of our Within reach series, alongside 100 Women in Finance, we explore and suggests several strategies to retain, develop, and grow the share of women in financial services leadership.

The case for organizational diversity has never been more convincing. Diversity within firms has been shown to drive innovation and productivity. Gender diversity in particular has been linked to boosts in profitability. It's no wonder, then, that 34 percent of CEOS recently ranked diversity as a key measure of success when evaluating firm performance.

Despite this, achieving a greater representation of women in leadership roles remains a significant challenge for many firms. In 2019, the proportion of women in leadership roles in financial services is 21.9 percent, which is projected to grow to 31 percent by 2030—still well below parity.

One M&A: unlocking Asia Pacific’s deal potential
1-min. read

A bold move for growth: Deloitte has launched One M&A, a unified virtual business unit spanning Asia Pacific, designed to deliver seamless and market-leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) services to our clients.

Why it matters: One M&A brings together over 5,500 M&A professionals across the region, strengthening our position as a trusted advisor. This strategic alignment unlocks new growth opportunities for our business and enhances client services throughout the entire M&A lifecycle.

Breaking down silos for seamless collaboration: One M&A creates a single, cohesive structure, integrating all M&A capabilities, talent, and resources. Its strategic role is ‘getting in early’ to shape demand, capture the full fee potential of the M&A lifecycle and link Transaction to Transformation (via pull-through to the rest of the multidisciplinary model). Deloitte drives sustainable growth at B20 Summit
1-min. read

Amplifying our voice on the world stage: At the B20 Summit 2024 in Brazil, Deloitte—represented by Global Chair Anna Marks—took a leading role in shaping global policy discussions, advocating for sustainable finance, resilient infrastructure, ethical business practices, regulatory compliance, and the integration of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into a net-zero future.

Why it matters: The B20 serves as the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community, providing a powerful platform to inform policy recommendations on pressing global issues. Deloitte’s active participation reinforces our commitment to sustainable growth and our position as a leading voice in this area.

Our impact at B20: We co-hosted two events, the first focusing on mobilizing private capital for climate projects and accelerating the transition to a net-zero economy. The second promoted ethical business practices, regulatory compliance, and fostering integrity in global business.
